The Burketown Visitor Centre is located on the corner of Musgrave and Burke Streets. This historic building was originally the Combined Post and Telegraph Office and now serves to consolidate and present the cultural and natural amenity of the region, acting as the focal point for tourism product distribution through various channels such as travel agent networks, tour wholesaler networks, and other Visitor Centres. The Burketown Visitor Centre facilitates regional participation in State and Federal government tourism promotion initiatives.
A large range of brochures, mud maps and information sheets about the history of Burketown are available. There is also articles and photographs about the amazing waves of the 'Morning Glory' cloud formation, which until quite recently was one of Australia's best kept secrets.
The Burketown Visitor Centre facilitates regional participation in State and Federal government tourism promotion initiatives. Indigenous Culture, landscape, and adventure experiences provide a dynamic platform for the local experiences that you can encounter as a visitor to Burketown and the offerings of the Visitor Centre.
It is open during the tourist season from April to October, Monday to Sunday 8.30am - 4pm.
