Gregory Downs Race Day and Gregory River Canoe Marathon

Held annually over the last weekend in April or the first weekend in May is the biggest event on the Gregory calendar. This year the Horse Races will be held on Saturday 29 April at the Gregory Downs Race Track and the Gregory Canoe Marathon will be held the following day over a short and long course with many entering for fun, but serious competitor also compete.

The Morning Glory Festival

Come celebrate this rare natural cloud phenomenon, called Morning Glory that occurs in our region from late September to early November. Although we can’t guarantee the Morning Glory cloud will be above us during the festival, why not experience far north Queensland at its best.
Celebrating the unique cloud formations in the Gulf of Carpentaria with The Burketown Camp Draft and Rodeo, dance workshops, art workshops, live music, market stalls, Bush Foods gala dinner, displays, art exhibitions, story telling, kids activities, photographic competition and more.
